There are few places in the world quite like Rome. Known as the Eternal City, Italy's capital is a must visit destination. Whether you’re looking to explore all of Rome on a longer trip, or planning a quick stay en route to other Italian cities, finding the perfect hotel for your trip is very important. With so much to see, having a hotel that's both luxurious and centrally located means you can spend less time commuting and more time experiencing everything Rome has to offer.
The Anantara Palazzo Naiadi Rome Hotel is a stunning five-star property that was a perfect choice during our Euro Summer trip to Italy. In this review, I'll share everything you need to know from the rooms and amenities to the location, dining, and whether it's worth the price to help you decide if it's the right home base for your next trip to Rome.

Location: One of the Best Bases for Exploring Rome
One of the hotel's biggest strengths is its location. Anantara Palazzo Naiadi sits directly on Piazza della Repubblica, making it one of the most convenient luxury hotels for exploring the city. Rome is a very walkable city but you’ll quickly realize you will be doing lots of steps exploring so picking the right neighborhood is very important.
Walkable to:
Trevi Fountain (15 minutes)
Spanish Steps (20 minutes)
Pantheon (25 minutes)
Roman Forum & Colosseum (25 minutes)
The best part of the location is that Roma Termini Train Station is only about a 10-minute walk away, making arrivals from the airport or connections to Florence, Naples, or Venice incredibly simple. There is also a subway station below for easy access to travel throughout the city.
It is great being close enough to the major sights but also away from the crowds of tourists.
First Impressions:
The hotel occupies a magnificent 19th-century palace built atop the ancient Baths of Diocletian, and it immediately feels grand from the moment you arrive.
The soaring ceilings, marble floors, dramatic architecture, and elegant décor create an atmosphere that feels unmistakably Roman while still offering every modern luxury you'd expect from a five-star hotel.
Many of the hotels in the city are very small. You can immediately feel the magnitude and scale of the property both inside and out.
Rooms & Suites
The guest rooms at Anantara Palazzo Naiadi perfectly blend timeless Roman elegance with modern comfort. One of the first things we noticed was how spacious the rooms felt. Space is something that's surprisingly rare in Rome, where many luxury hotels occupy historic buildings with smaller layouts.
Our room featured everything you'd expect from a five-star property, including:
Plush king bed
Spacious marble bathroom
Rain shower and soaking tub
Luxury bath amenities
Espresso machine
Excellent soundproofing (a welcome escape from the city's traffic, sirens, and bustling streets)
High ceilings that added to the room's grand, historic feel
While the design leans toward a more classic European aesthetic, it never felt dated. Instead, it perfectly complements the hotel's rich history while still offering all the modern comforts you'd want after a full day of sightseeing.
We stayed in a Junior Suite with Piazza View, and waking up each morning overlooking Piazza della Repubblica was one of the highlights of our stay. The oversized sitting area provided plenty of space to relax, while the soaking tub and rain shower became the perfect place to unwind after walking miles through Rome's cobblestone streets.
If you're celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary, birthday, or simply looking to elevate your Roman holiday, upgrading to one of the suites is absolutely worth it.

Dining at Anantara Palazzo Naiadi
One of the things that truly surprised us was just how impressive the dining options were throughout the hotel. Whether you're starting your day with an incredible breakfast, enjoying cocktails with a rooftop view, or indulging in a Michelin-starred tasting menu, there's something for every type of traveler.

Breakfast
Breakfast quickly became one of our favorite parts of each day.
Served in a beautiful dining room accompanied by a live pianist, the experience felt both elegant and relaxing before heading out to explore the city.
The expansive breakfast buffet is complemented by an extensive à la carte menu featuring both classic European and American breakfast favorites.
Highlights included:
Freshly baked pastries, including the famous Roman Maritozzo
Premium Italian meats and cheeses
Fresh sushi and smoked fish
Asian noodle dishes
Made-to-order egg specialties and breakfast meats
Fresh seasonal fruit
Freshly squeezed juices
Excellent espresso and cappuccino (although they have not mastered my favorite, the Iced Coffee drinks)
Unlike many restaurants throughout Italy, where leisurely meals are part of the culture, the breakfast service here was efficient without ever feeling rushed. If you're eager to maximize your sightseeing, it's refreshing to enjoy a high-quality breakfast without spending two hours at the table.
Between the outstanding food, attentive staff, and live piano music, breakfast became one of the unexpected highlights of our stay.
Seen by Olivier
For lunch, dinner, or evening cocktails, Seen by Olivier is another standout dining option located within the hotel.
The rooftop restaurant and bar offer beautiful views over Rome, making it an ideal place to enjoy sunset drinks or a relaxed dinner after a day of exploring. The atmosphere is stylish yet approachable, and the rooftop setting provides a completely different perspective of the Eternal City.
Down in the lobby, you'll also find an elegant cocktail bar that's perfect for a pre-dinner aperitivo or a nightcap before heading to bed.

INEO Restaurant
Without question, the culinary highlight of our stay was INEO, the hotel's Michelin-starred fine dining restaurant.
In a city famous for pizza, pasta, and traditional Roman cuisine, INEO offers something refreshingly different. Rather than recreating classic Italian dishes, the restaurant delivers an innovative tasting menu inspired by global flavors while showcasing exceptional ingredients and artistry.
We chose the full tasting menu with the wine pairing, and it completely exceeded every expectation. It wasn't just one of the best meals we had in Italy, it was genuinely one of the best dining experiences of my life.
As someone who's typically skeptical of tasting menus (and admittedly still has the appetite of a former collegiate athlete self), I expected to leave wanting more. Instead, every course was thoughtfully paced, surprisingly satisfying, and packed with incredible flavor. While many of the dishes were only a few bites, each one delivered an impressive combination of creativity, technique, and presentation. And the wines paired with each dish were even more amazing.
The service elevated the experience even further. Every member of the staff was exceptionally knowledgeable, passionate, and attentive, taking the time to explain each course and perfectly pace the evening without ever making us feel rushed.
Even if you're not staying at Anantara Palazzo Naiadi, I would strongly recommend making a reservation at INEO. It's a destination-worthy restaurant that deserves a place on any Rome itinerary.
I've shared a full, in-depth review of the INEO dining experience separately, but if you're looking for one unforgettable meal in Rome, this is the reservation to make.
Although Rome is filled with incredible restaurants, and there are so many amazing and must visit restaurants to book, it's nice knowing you have an excellent option without leaving the property
Rooftop Pool: A Rare Luxury in Rome
One feature that truly sets Anantara Palazzo Naiadi apart from many other luxury hotels in Rome is its rooftop pool. Pools are surprisingly uncommon among historic hotels in the city center. After walking 20,000+ steps through Rome's cobblestone streets, relaxing at the rooftop pool while overlooking the city was one of our favorite parts of the trip.
If you're visiting during warmer months, this amenity alone can justify choosing this hotel over competitors.
Wellness: Spa & Fitness Center
After spending your days exploring Rome's ancient streets, climbing the Spanish Steps, and walking countless miles between landmarks, you'll quickly appreciate having a place to recharge and unwind. The Time Zone Change and the long flights is another reason to treat yourself to a spa day as well.
The Anantara Spa offers a peaceful retreat from the busy energy of the city. The moment you step inside, the atmosphere shifts from the hustle and bustle of Rome to one of complete relaxation.
The spa features a beautiful wellness circuit that includes a heated vitality pool, sauna, steam room, and relaxation areas, making it the perfect place to unwind after a long day of sightseeing. Whether you choose to book one of the signature massages or simply enjoy the wellness facilities, it's an experience that feels worlds away from the busy streets just outside the hotel.
I specifically liked that they had two steam rooms with very different moisture/humidity levels. This was an added touch because I love a heavy steam room but my wife does not.
The baths and cold plunges are well known in Rome. They didn’t have a full bath but they did have a very interesting shower system that sprayed different levels and temperature water to help you cool off after the hot steam room or sauna.
They have great spa treatments to choose from and my wife and I did a Diocletian Bath Ritual experience which included a great scrub, a steam room, and a relaxing massage. This truly was the perfect way to end our trip in Rome.
Fitness Center
For travelers who like to maintain their workout routine while on vacation, the hotel's fitness center is one of the better-equipped luxury hotel gyms you'll find in Rome. Everything is fitted with Techno Gym Equipment and the entire vibe of the gym was a great place for a workout.
You'll find:
Treadmills, ellipticals, and stationary bikes
Free weights and adjustable benches
Resistance and strength-training machines
Functional training equipment
Plenty of space for stretching or bodyweight exercises
Nearby Attractions
One of our favorite aspects of staying here was how easy it was to explore Rome on foot.
Some nearby highlights include:
Trevi Fountain
Pantheon
Piazza Navona
Colosseum
Roman Forum
Being able to return to the hotel during the afternoon before heading back out for dinner made sightseeing much more enjoyable.
