Six Senses Rome Review (2026): A Modern Luxury Oasis in the Heart of the Rome

When planning a luxury trip to Rome, you'll quickly realize there's no shortage of incredible hotels. Historic palaces, boutique properties, and internationally renowned luxury brands all compete for your attention, making it difficult to choose where to stay.

I had my eye on the Six Senses Hotel Brand for sometime and with crazy cash and points redemptions for my typical brands like Waldorf Astoria and the St. Regis, I decided to finally visit a Six Senses property. The Six Senses Rome combines the modern luxury hotel with its wellness-focused services.

It's modern without feeling cold, luxurious without feeling pretentious, and peaceful despite being just steps from some of Rome's busiest attractions. In a city known for its ancient and classic architecture, a modern luxury property was a welcomed treat.

If you're looking for one of the best luxury hotels in Rome, here's everything you need to know before booking.

  • Couples

  • IHG Hotel Loyalist

  • Travelers who prioritize location

Pros

  • Exceptional location in Rome's Historic Center and walkable to all the major sights

  • Beautiful contemporary design

  • Outstanding spa and wellness facilities

  • Fantastic breakfast buffet

Location: Right in the Heart of Rome

If location is your top priority, it's hard to do much better than Six Senses Rome. Rome is a very walkable city and being in the heart of the action is one of the best ways to explore the city.

Situated just off Via del Corso, the hotel places you within easy walking distance of many of Rome's most iconic landmarks and my must see places when visiting the Eternal City

From the hotel, you can comfortably walk to:

  • Trevi Fountain

  • Pantheon

  • Piazza Navona

  • Spanish Steps

  • Campo de' Fiori

  • Piazza Venezia

  • Roman Forum

  • Colosseum

One of my favorite parts about staying here was simply stepping outside each morning and immediately finding myself immersed in Rome's vibrant streets.

First Impressions

The moment you enter Six Senses Rome, the energy of the city seems to disappear.

Outside, Rome is lively, energetic, and wonderfully chaotic. Inside, everything feels calm and peaceful.

Natural stone, warm wood, soft lighting, and earthy colors create an atmosphere that's instantly relaxing.

It's immediately recognizable as a Six Senses property - a Luxury and Wellness Focused brand.

The result feels refreshingly different from many of Rome's traditional grand hotels.

Rooms & Suites

The guestrooms continue that same design philosophy. Minimalist without feeling empty. Elegant without sacrificing comfort. Every detail feels intentional.

I booked a one bedroom deluxe room:

  • Plush king bed - one of the most comfortable beds I have had

  • Beautiful marble bathroom with a separate Toilet/Bidet Area and Full Rain Shower

  • Luxury Six Senses bath amenities

  • Complimentary minibar refreshments, snacks, drinks, and more

  • Excellent soundproofing - I didn’t hear the loud chaos of Rome

  • Smart room technology

Although the rooms aren't the largest you'll find in Rome, they're exceptionally well designed and make outstanding use of every square foot. Most rooms in the heart of European Cities tend to be smaller so this was no surprise.

After full days exploring the city, returning to such a peaceful environment was one of our favorite parts of the trip. Especially after flying from LA, we were jetlagged and were able to quickly nap mid day to catch up and get on track with our new time zone.

  • Modern Minimalism
  • Luxurious Stone Bathrooms
  • Clean and Minimalistic Guest Room
  • Stone Shower with glass windows and accent lighting
  • Snack Bar with complimentary wellness snacks and drinks and a coffee machine with coffee and teas
  • complimentary snacks and drinks

Wellness: The Heart of the Hotel

If there's one feature that truly separates Six Senses Rome from other luxury hotels, it's the wellness experience. The spa isn't simply another hotel amenity. It was the reason I booked the hotel in the first place!

Guests have access to the spa without needing to book an expensive Spa Treatment. This was a nice touch especially considering all the amenities they offered at The Roman Baths. They have a full circuit they recommend (in order) to help you relax and pamper yourself just like the Ancient Romans did years ago.

Enjoy the following:

  • Sauna

  • Steam room

  • Relaxation lounges

  • Treatment rooms

  • Rain Showers with multiple water settings

  • Cold Plunges (Multiple different temperatures)

  • Hot Tubs

  • Pool

Even if you don't normally book spa treatments while traveling, I highly recommend spending time enjoying the wellness facilities. It is the perfect way to relax after walking 10,000+ steps exploring Rome or to recover after a long flight to Europe.

I recommend exploring the city first thing in the morning to beat the crowds and then coming back to relax at The Roman Baths in the afternoon when the tourist attractions are at their busiest.

  • Six Senses Roman Bath Pool
  • Six Senses Long Pool
  • Cold Plunge Relaxation
  • Spa Seating Area
  • Spa Lounge Area
  • Spa Seating Area
  • Modern Gym
  • Cardio and Lifting
  • Tons of Training Equipment

Fitness Center

The fitness center is equally impressive. As a former college athlete, I always judge a hotel gym and this one did not disappoint.

Bright, spacious, and equipped with premium Technogym equipment, it offers everything needed for both cardio and strength training. There were tons of fun little pieces of equipment for endless types of workouts.

Unlike many hotel gyms, it feels like a boutique fitness studio rather than an afterthought.

Breakfast

Breakfast became something we genuinely looked forward to each morning. Our room rate included the breakfast buffet which did not disappoint. There were multiple stations with delicious pastries, Italian Breads, a separate room of meats and cheeses,  fresh juices and fruits, and  an excellent à la carte menu. Of course, everything was wellness focused so it felt clean but of course there were plenty of chocolate croissants and pastries to be had.

The quality of the ingredients was exceptional and everything felt fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and beautifully presented.

  • Breakfast Buffer with honey and jams
  • Wide Variety of Fresh Baked Pastries
  • Italian Bread Selection
  • A separate cheese room
  • Fresh Fruit
  • Breakfast Dining Area

Dining

One thing I appreciated about Six Senses is that its restaurant feels like a destination rather than simply a hotel dining room.

The menu combines Italian flavors with the brand's wellness philosophy, emphasizing seasonal ingredients and creative presentations.

Whether stopping in for breakfast, lunch, or cocktails, every meal felt relaxed and refined.

Service

Luxury hotels often advertise personalized service. Six Senses actually delivers it.

Throughout our stay, every staff member felt genuinely invested in creating a memorable experience.

From restaurant recommendations and booking quick reservations upon check-in to sightseeing tips and simple conversations throughout the day, the hospitality felt warm, authentic, and effortless. Even upon checkout, the bellman had us sit in the lobby while he took care of everything from getting us the taxi to helping us with all of our bags. That sounds normal but he went over the top.

Is Six Senses Rome Worth It?

Without question. Yes, it's expensive. Rome is expensive in general and of course a luxury property goes beyond that in terms of price - especially in peak summer months.

But between the unbeatable location, thoughtful design, exceptional spa, personalized service, and tranquil atmosphere, it delivers an experience that feels genuinely special.

It's not just somewhere to sleep. It's somewhere you'll actually look forward to returning to after every day spent exploring Rome.

If you are planning to just explore the city, then it might not be worth the splurge. But if you plan on enjoying the spa and making the hotel part of the vacation, it is absolutely worth it.

Booking the Six Senses Rome

This was my first time at a Six Senses property and I do not frequently travel with IHG Hotels so I chose to book this property through Rove

Booking your hotel through Rove isn't just about finding a great place to stay. It is one of the most powerful ways to earn valuable transferable points that can unlock incredible travel experiences. And its free! Instead of leaving rewards on the table, you can earn points that transfer to major airline and hotel loyalty programs, helping you book business and first class flights, luxury resorts, and five-star hotels for a fraction of the cash price. It's one of the easiest ways to turn everyday hotel bookings into unforgettable luxury travel. My stay at the Six Senses in Rome helped me book a business class flight to Japan the following year for Free!

Final Thoughts

Six Senses Rome exceeded the expectations and was worth the price tag. I have always wanted to stay at one of these properties as they have always been a hotel of consideration in many of the destinations I have visited.

It somehow manages to feel like an intimate wellness retreat while sitting in the very center of one of Europe's busiest cities.

Between the beautiful design, outstanding hospitality, incredible spa, and ideal location, it became one of my favorite luxury hotels I've stayed at anywhere in the world.

Whether you're planning your first visit to Rome or returning for another adventure, Six Senses Rome offers a luxury experience that's every bit as memorable as the Eternal City itself.
