Conrad Maldives Hotel Review, a must visit destination

Conrad Maldlives is three secluded and attached islands known as Rangali Island. Located in the South Ari Atoll, the iconic Conrad Maldives property awaits your arrival.

How to get to Conrad Maldives

You need to book a flight to the Capital of the Maldives, Male, home to the international airport. The airport is closest so Sri Lanka and India but you will most likely find a connecting flight from the major international hu bs like Emirates, Qatar, Turkish Airlikes, Etihadr Singapore Airlines. After clearing customs upon arrival, a resort member will be waiting for you to take you to the private airport lounge exclusive to Conrad guests. You can enjoy snacks and drinks before heading out on to your seaplane. The 30 minute seaplane will have you descending into the vibrant blue lagoon water in no time.

Arriving to the Conrad Maldives

There is a front desk but you will not be checking in like at any normal hotel. Your personal butler will greet you upon arrival with a fresh coconut and take you around the island to get you familiarized with the property.

About the Conrad Maldives

The property itself is split between 3 islands attached by large bridgeways. There is a new and renovated adult only island, a larger main island home to most of the restaurants, as well as a staff only island. Most resorts only have one island so it is very nice to have a larger footprint to explore as well as to not have to share the main island with the staff.

The Adult Only island has a combination of beach villas and overwater villas. There is a resort pool and restaurants located on this island. Walk across the bridge path or take a short boat ride to the Main Island. Here you will find more beach and overwater villas, the main front reception area, the gym, multiple stores, restaurants, bars, water activity center, and the main bar and pool area.

Conrad Maldives Villas

The entry level room is a 1,600 SF Beach Villa. These villas are nestled between palm trees with direct access to the pristine white sand beaches. The villas have large indoor spaces with outdoor bathing areas.

The Deluxe Beach Villas feature a space twice the size as the Beach Villa at 3,200 SF featureing indoor and outdoor showers, outdoor lounge terrace, and a plunge pool. These villas are also just steps away from the pristine ocean waters. For larger groups and families, you can book a two or three bedroom villas.

The overwater villas are synonymous with the Maldives. These villas are smaller at just under 1,000 SF but feature direct access to the water. You can jump off your balcony right into the perfect ocean waters. There are multiple variations of the overwater villas including upgraded suites and two bedroom villas.

The ultimate level of luxury is The Muraka suite. This two story level residence has a submerged master bedroom deep under the surface of the Indian Ocean allowing you to sleep and wake up in an aquarium! The upper level features two bedrooms, a large outdoor terrace, infinity pool, gym, private kitchen, bar, and huge living room area.

Things to do in the Conrad Maldives

The resort provides endless luxury where you will feel like you are on your own secluded island. With direct beach access and pools in the majority of the villas, most people will stick to their own spaces. This means the main resort pool will not be overcrowded.

Snorkel and Scuba dive in the finest ocean waters. The house reef features hundreds of different types of colorful fish and beautiful coral reefs. Rent a boat and go out to the further waters to experience deeper waters and more marine life.

Relax and unwind at the spa. Pamper yourself and enjoy a massage with a glass floor for your viewing pleasure. The activity center has tons of water activities from jetsking to paddle boarding, to private boat rides. Whale Shark Excursions leave every morning and is about a 90 minute ride to where whale sharks are commonly found. Note there is NO guarantee that you will see them.

Dining options at the Conrad Maldives

There are so many amazing dining options on Rangali Island. You will never go hungry here.

Atoll Market is your home for Breakfast and Dinner Buffets. The breakfast buffet is one of the best you will find and you will most likely not be hungry until dinner time. With omelette stations, juice bars, pastry tables and Japanese, Chinese, and Indian stations, you will have so many choices at your disposal.

Ithaa Undersea Restaurant is the iconic underwater restaurant that will bring you up close and personal to the amazing marine life on the beautiful reef. This is a very expensive meal but it is also a once in a lifetime experience.

UFAA is an amazing chinese inspired menu and one of my favorite meals on the island.

Sunset Grill is an overwater restaurant with fresh meats and seafood. Be sure to look down as you will see countless fish and even sharks while dining.

Mandhoo Spa Restaurant is a lighter dining option. The food was very fresh and healthy but it left me wanting a little more, especially for the price.

Koko Grill is a ten course japanese dining experience under the stars and right on the beach!

Vilu is a food and wine dining experience featuring Mediterranean inspired cuisine.

Rangali Bar is your traditional beach bar. This is probably the cheapest dining option. This relaxed beach bar vibe is exactly what you are looking for when in the islands.

The Wine Cellar features the first underground wine cellar in the Maldives with amazing wines and cheese as well as their famous fondu meals.

In Room Dining is always an option and recommended for another cheaper alternative. Enjoy dining right at your villa with your own private sunset feast.

The food and drink is VERY expensive as you are literally in the middle of the ocean. Water at meals can be very expensive so be sure to drink a glass of water before your meal! Meals will typically be about a minimum of $200+ for a couple. Some of the fine dining options like Ithaa or the Wine Cellar will be $500+. The Rangali Bar will be your cheapest option around $100-$150.
